Blue Room – Dragonflies

We are the Dragonflies!

We are super engaged in many activities throughout the day.

Music and Movement: We start our Pre-school mornings around 8:30 with some music and movement.  This time allows us to transition into more structure for our day.  You will hear us cutting loose by dancing and singing to our favorite tunes like “Peanut Butter and Jelly,” “The Freeze Song,” and “Tooty Ta.” These songs include listening to instruction opportunities, following the leader moments, and making your own dance moves.   As we get all of our wiggles out we will move into Circle Time.

Circle Time: We love singing our ABC’s, learning about seasons, weather, the days of the week, our color and number shape of the week, and realize our fingers are great for counting.  Recognizing letters and numbers, are a part of all of our School Themed Curriculum. Circle time promotes cognitive skills and rote memory as well as an opportunity to build leadership skills and to practice speaking to others.

Art/Science: We are learning how to cut out all sorts of things by using our fine motor skills! Transitioning from scribbling to drawing faces and shapes is something you will see your child begin to do in the blue room. During science experiments, the children start to answer questions like –  “What do you think will happen next? Why?”

Book Club: …is a great time to gather chairs around the rocking chair while our teacher reads stories chosen by us. We can even bring in a book from home to share with the class! This keeps us excited about reading and model good book care and listening skills as we calm our bodies for a bit from our busy day.
